Anyone can call themselves a coach. Accreditation exists so that clients do not have to take that claim on trust.
An ANZCAL accredited coach has had their practice assessed against a defined standard, logs continuing professional development every year, and has agreed to a published Code of Ethics and Conduct. Each of those is renewed annually rather than earned once.
For a client choosing between practitioners, that is the difference between a description and a commitment. It is also why every accredited coach carries a certificate with an ID that can be verified publicly.
